Bake a Pie for your Dog! It's National Pi Day!

Happy National Pi Day!

It's 3.14 and though we know it's PI day, we thought it would be nice to show off our favorite pie recipe for your pup to celebrate #NationalPiDay and make your furbaby something special!🐶🥧

Recipe Below!

🥣Ingredients:⠀
16 oz. canned pumpkin (plain – not pie filling!)⠀
½ banana⠀
¾ cup flour⠀
½ cup oatmeal⠀
¼ cup plain low-fat yogurt⠀
¼ – ½ cup water⠀
cupcake or muffin tin⠀
cupcake liners⠀
.⠀
⏲Instructions:⠀
Step 1. Preheat oven to 375 degree Fahrenheit.⠀
Step 2. Mix oatmeal and flour together in a large bowl.⠀
Step 3. Add enough water to get dough to form a ball. Add water slowly, too much will make it too sticky, not enough and it will crumble.⠀
Step 4. Line cupcake tins. Take a chunk of dough and press into bottom of cupcake liner. Dough should go up sides a bit, about a 1/2″⠀
Step 6. Bake crust for 8 mins, until firm and slightly brown.⠀
Step 7. Carefully take crusts out of tin, cool on rack. When cool, remove liners.⠀
Step 8. Mix pumpkin, banana and half of the yogurt together.⠀
Step 9. Fill each crust with pumpkin banana mixture.⠀
Step 10. Freeze until firm. Serve Frozen.⠀
.⠀
✨Bonus Tips:⠀
* Tempting as it might be to put all of this in a regular 9” or 10” pie dish, that size is a little much for most dogs. Pro tip: use a muffin tin to make snack-size pies. If you want to be a little extra, you can use a dog-themed baking mold. ⠀
* You can get creative with the filling. Many fruits are good for dogs, from blueberries to apples. Blend in some chicken, some peanut butter, some beef … really, you can go places with your pie filling. Simplest of all? Plain old pumpkin. Buy a can of pumpkin—not the sugary pie filling, though—spoon it into your crusts, and voila. As promised, it’s impossible to mess up!⠀
* For an extra special treat, freeze it for your dogs. It'll last longer too!⠀
* For “whipped cream”, you can serve with a spoonful of yogurt on top. Enjoy!⠀
